Group Huggg

After spending the last two years separately working from our respective box rooms, kitchen tables and garden sheds, the Huggg team recently decamped en-mass to a top-secret location (otherwise known as a hotel just outside London) to regroup, catch up and make plans - big ones.

Taking time away from the day-to-day running of Huggg whilst ensuring it was business as normal, was understandably no mean feat, but boy was it worth it. We came away from the sessions refreshed, inspired and even more focused on the type of company we want to be. And thankfully, no one brought an acoustic guitar.

Here’s what we learned.

Our people are our greatest asset

Our relatively small workforce is made up of a set of smart, fun, brilliant individuals. Each with their own unique personalities, striking similarities and wonderful differences. It’s these contrasting factors that make Team Huggg the group we are.

The three days spent together in workshops, on countryside walks and socialising, reinforced our belief that by hiring people with a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles, we will build a richer and more successful company.

As we grow, we’re going to keep looking for people that will add their own characteristics and experiences to the mix, and continue to welcome people from all walks of life - be they introverts 🤐, extroverts 🕺 or somewhere in between.

We’re building a culture to be proud of

As Huggg’s main purpose is helping other businesses make their people feel good, it won’t come as a surprise creating an exceptional company culture of our own has been a top priority since day one. We really do love our people and want to keep doing everything we can to make sure they feel appreciated, respected and happy.

There’s always room for improvement but we know that by doing right by our people, we will continue to make a workplace where people want to stay for the long run.

Change is good

As with many companies, the COVID pandemic made us re-evaluate our working methods. By embracing the change and offering flexible hybrid working options, we have allowed our people to choose what works best for them. Whether that’s logging on from home (even if that’s a different country), in the office or a bit of both.

We’ve been careful to ensure ‘working from home’ hasn’t turned into ‘living at work’ and found that by trusting our people to make the best choices for themselves, we are all much happier and more able to strike a better work/life balance. ⚖️

We won’t pretend it was easy, but by pulling together, Team Huggg has emerged stronger, more productive and even more of a tight-knit bunch than before.

Opinions matter

Something that is incredibly important to Huggg is ensuring all team members feel connected to the running of the company and the direction it’s heading in. We achieve this by sharing company developments and encouraging people to offer their thoughts on them before plans are put in motion.

By doing this, we ensure that people feel invested in their work and in the company as a whole. This leads to improved collaboration and cohesion between departments. Winner winner. 🍗🍽

One of the best things about collaborating and debating as a team is that we are never short on different opinions and viewpoints. So getting together to discuss important developments is essential in ensuring everyone has the chance to have their say, ask questions and be heard. 📣

We’ve got big ambitions

The main goal for our time away was to agree on our next steps for completing our mission to become the world’s number one gifting platform. Just as important though, was discussing how we’ll go about this whilst making sure we stay true to our values and don’t lose what makes Huggg stand out from the crowd. 👨‍🎤

So as we continue to plan and build out our product roadmap, it’s clear the rest of 2022 is going to be an enormously exciting (and busy!) time for Huggg.

Over the next few months you will be seeing some big improvements to every aspect of Huggg, but don’t worry; we know we can only reach our goal by keeping our (dearly loved) current users happy. So we’re taking great care to introduce the changes in a way that won’t cause disruption and to make sure we bring you along on every step of the way to the top. 🪜
