A quick look back on the 365 days we'll remember forever

2017 has been quite a year.

From January, when we were still busy introducing ourselves to brands, through to launch week where we saw our huggg heroes causing havoc across the city, right up until today, it’s been a hectic but amazing one to say the least.

Watching so many of you fall in love with our app and using it to thank, cheer up or say hi to a friend has been the cherry on top of a very purple cake and we can't thank the inhabitants of Bristol and Bath enough for supporting what we're trying to do.

Because we’re big softies and love a throwback as much as the next human, we’ve decided to put together a list of huggg highlights from the past 365 to look back on when we're old and grey.

So, whether you’re new to huggg and want to know a little more about us or are a loyal huggger who simply wants to take a jaunt down good ol' memory lane, then keep scrolling.

These are our favourite moments from 2017.

JANUARY

At the very beginning of the year, we were on a mission to find brands to hop onboard the huggg train and join us on our quest to spread kindness as far and as wide as possible with food.

It took a lot of caffeine, a billion trains journeys and multiple phone conversations, but landing that first partnership made it all worthwhile. It felt like we’d climbed Everest, won the lottery and been awarded an OBE all at the same time.

Special shout out to Friska who were the first to say yes. You are (and always will be) the bomb.

JULY

A hop skip and a jump to the summer when we were finally able to launch our app.

From purple-cladded huggg heroes running through the streets of Bristol offering coffees to all and sundry, to Paul having an epiphany about his creation and watching people send hugggs for the first time, that week in July was unforgettable.

SEPTEMBER

As summer drew to a close, Paul (CEO and Chief Plate Spinner at huggg) decided that launching a start up wasn't enough of a challenge for him and threw a newborn baby into the mix, welcoming little Theodore into the world on 17th September.

Alice (Creative Lead at huggg) became an aunt to 4 and Paul realised he would never sleep again.

OCTOBER

Remember when you could send Friska hot drinks for £1 via huggg app? That was neat, right?

On 15th October 2017, the old one pound coin fell out of action, so to mark the occasion, we decided to drop the price of Friska hot drink hugggs to just £1 for a whole day. Tons of you sent warm pick me ups to pals and we sincerely hope you enjoyed your creamy coffees.

NOVEMBER

One cold November night, we nipped over to KMPG's Bristol office to compete in the 'Best British Mobile Startup (South Heat) event.

It was great to listen to the plans of other founders and Paul's stellar pitch led us to being given an honourable mention on the night. Although it wasn’t an outright win, we were pleased to hear that the experts believed in what we were doing. Plus, the pizza and beers were a nice surprise.

DECEMBER

TechCrunch (and the bright lights of December) swung around faster than you can say
'schneien' (that's snow in German, by the way). We spent a couple of days eating pretzels and talking tech before heading back to Bristol for more fun and games at HQ.

CHRISTMAS

We decided that, for every Friska hot drink huggg sent in December, we'd provide another hot drink to someone in Bristol who needed it most. Although the aim was to give back to the community, delivering the tea and coffee ourselves meant we got to sit and enjoy a chat with a cup of joe.

The perfect way to round of the year indeed.

So, there we have it. Our top moments of 2017.

We've got tons of exciting stuff lined up next year that we can't wait to talk to you about, but you'll have to keep your peepers peeled for that. Be sure to download huggg app and opt into marketing to be one of the first to know what's going on.

Until then, have a fantastic Christmas and we'll see you in 2018.
